February 2018 – The Wizard of Oz

In celebration of 20 years, the Colchester Community Theatre has scheduled auditions for its February 2018 production of The Wizard of Oz through special arrangement with Tams-Witmark Music Library.  This beloved tale, in which a Kansas farm girl travels over the rainbow to discover the magical power of home, has been entertaining audiences for generations. CCT will be producing the RSC version which is a more faithful adaptation of the film. A more technically complex production, it recreates the dialogue and structure of the MGM classic nearly scene for scene, though it is adapted for live stage performance.

Auditions will be held on Thursday, November 2 from 6:30 – 7:30 pm for children 8th grade and below and 7:30 – 9:00 pm for teens and adults at Congregation Ahavath Achim (Colchester Synagogue) Hall, 84 Lebanon Avenue in Colchester and Sunday, November 5 from 1:00 – 2:00 for children 8th grade and below and 2:00 – 4:00 pm for teens and adults at The Dance Academy of Colchester, 15 Broadway Street in Colchester. Entrance and parking for The Dance Academy is behind the complex. No appointment is required. Everyone MUST bring sheet music in the appropriate key and be prepared to sing. Please prepare 12-16 measures of a song that showcases your voice. No prerecorded music or a cappella singing will be permitted. An accompanist will be provided. Everyone will be asked to learn a short choreographed routine so please bring appropriate shoe wear.

Show dates for this production are February 16, 17, and 18, 2018. Anyone who is unable to attend the auditions on the above dates must contact us before November 1 to make other arrangements. CCT is sponsored by Colchester Parks & Recreation.I
